07-02-2025 - 5:15 AM - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, whatever that means to you. Even at this early hour, there is a little local trucker chatter on CB Radio Channel 19. The band is dead as far as "skip" or long-distance communications, which makes it easier for locals to talk. We're at the peak of the current 11-year Solar Cycle, and it's a skip-shooter's paradise. I enjoy the bottom of the cycle. I prefer quiet local conditions. If I want to engage in long-distance communication, I use Amateur (ham) Radio. Your preference may vary. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

07-02-2025 - It was a few years ago when I saw a young mother ordering from the deli at a local Walmart. Her son, about 2 years old, was behind her. To amuse himself, he was down on all fours, licking the floor. When Mom saw this, she lost her composure. I hope the kid is still alive, but he might be a Walmartian by now.

07-02-2025 - I'm gonna catch Hell for this but I think Festus's voice must be used in the "How to Talk on the CB Radio" class at truck driving schools. A large percentage of truck drivers I hear on Channel 19 while passing through town sound like Festus. They can't all be from Texas.

07-02-2025 - I saw a story on one of our local news media websites about a man at a local motel who was charged with harboring a fugitive. The fugitive police were seeking was found hiding under a bed in the room. I wondered what hotel had a bed that you could hide under. I read the story and learned it was the Wayfarer Motel. That explained it. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
